Re: Temperature on climate control
Thanks again Scotty! Pulled the glovebox door off and found the pump.

Then, I went under the dash and found this.

So, I went back into the engine and pulled the antifreeze bottle and fuse box and found THIS.....

I'm guessing THAT's the vac line that needs to be hooked up.
I tried to connect my vacuum pump to it but couldn't get a good seal to draw vacuum. I guess I need to figure out how to get vacuum to the cut hose.
Re: Temperature on climate control
nice csi work there.
you can buy vac line by the foot, its like a buck a foot. push that plastic line into the new vac line, then run that vac line to a vac port.
not sure where you turbo guys would plumb that in. got to be a spot on the intake for it, like the n/a cars.
Re: Temperature on climate control
Thanks...I'm kinda anal about things working properly even if it's a rust bucket I'm working on.
So, I got my vac pump to pull vacuum on the line in the engine compartment, but nothing changed on the airflow.
I'm not done yet, but.....I have some football food to make so, stay tuned............
Scotty, you sure you aren't gonna be in Indiana any time soon?.....I make a heck of a ribeye..............

Re: Temperature on climate control
Glad y'all figured that one out. I chased that plastic pipe once, far enough to see that it was bundled with the harness. I wore out a GM parts guy trying to locate the replacement. Fact is, you're supposed to use bulk stuff when that one fails. A hot rodder type guy might bend a hard line out of a stick of brake tubing and just have soft line at the ends, the stock hose is a pretty crazy design. Seems like the plastic lines on my 99 stuff are all ready to snap. I have used heat shrink tubing and vacuum hose for temp fixes. With the climate controls being so delicate and high dollar on these W-bodies, I am tempted to swap in an old car control head or some choke cables to control the temp and blend doors with. It'd be too simple though, and the automatic factory setup is sweet when it works!
