Next I would have a look at the CPS and HB. Had my HB warp on me and damaged the CPS so I had to replace both.
I tried hooking a different scanner up to see if it would pick up something my scangauge wasn't and it didn't pick up any codes either and I have my iat sensor unhooked and my icm but I never actually tried to start it cuz there's no oil in it right now. Should it have thrown a code with just turning the key forward or do I need to actually try starting it to get it to throw a code
My hb has a lil play it it. While I was checking all my pulleys I noticed that you could move the whole pulley including the bolt in the center bout a 1/8 of an inch away from the block. You can pull it out and push it back in bolt and all
Nope car doesn't have to be started to check the CEL. Do you have any JY nearby.. I would seriously look into the HB sounds like your going to have to replace it in the future anyways and well the CPS is cheap anyways if you use a coupon code.
Closest jy is bout 45 mins away and isn't open now or on sundays. With the cel I know I csn check it without starting it but shouldn't it be throwing a code since I don't have then icm or iat sensor hooked up
And correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the combo of the hb and the cps what tells it when to spark while cranking. If this is how it works.. I had spark everytime I would try to start it. If the hb and cps were bad wouldn't I be missing this spark. If I am wrong here please explain. Sorry again for all the questions just trying to figure out how all of this works.
I do greatly appreciate all the help though. I love this site. Learned so much in the last year
being the crank sensor tells the icm when to fire it could be the problem. maybe its just not firing at the right time. but then i would think it would at least back fire or pop out the intake when trying to start it.
Yeah it won't backfire or pop. Sprayed starter fluid in it while trying to start it and still didn't get any backfire or pop. Could the pcm be causing this? I put one from 3800 performance in like 3 almost 4 weeks ago and everything has been running great until the other day when it died.
I only ask about the pcm cuz that's the only thing thats changed in a while. I changed the thermostat too but that wouldn't havr anything to do with the problem I'm having
No they sent me one and I sent mine back to them. Still havent got my core charge back and I sent my core back over 2 weeks ago. Top it all off if that is the problem yesterday would have been my 30 days so I'm stuck with it. I was thinking I might try to pick up a stock one from the jy and amother icm
Alright one last question for the night. Is there anything else I should be looking for that could have caused the hb to have play in it. Engine only has 13 almost 14k. Another weird thing is the bolt moves out with it and when I push it in the bolt goes with it. I never get any space between the pulley and the bolt. Could the bolt possibly be stripped at the very end or something?
Could be loose. We had a guy go through a few pages on a thread to later realize the HB wasn't tight enough to give readings on the crank sensor...
I'm gonna put everything back together tomorrow and then pop the wheel off and see if I can get a wrench on that bolt and see if I can tighten it. Just seems weird that after almost two years that hb would get loose. Never had any issues until the other day
