Hello, 3 times in the last 2 weeks this has happened. Ill be sitting at a red light, then when it comes time to go, i press on the gas, the engine revs but the car barely moves, then about 1/2 a second to 1 second later youll feel it jerk (grab) then the car takes off and everything is normal. Whats goin on here? The fluid is full. I changed the fluid for the first time at 75000 miles, and have changed it every 25000 miles since then. When i say i "changed" it, i mean i did 3 drain and fills over the course of a week. car has 146000 miles..

should i start saving for a new transmission, or could it be something less severe?

That's called a bang start. It's typically the input piston and seal. Sometimes it's valve body.

Its time to consider a JY or rebuild if you are going to keep the car.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

well shoot. Considering my resources, and recent shoulder surgery, the junkyard is not an option. About what should i expect to pay for a rebuild? i understand different areas will have different prices, but in general. $1000? $2000?

get one of these shipped to your work or home. http://www.tripleedgeperformance.com..._to_Basix.html then have a local shop install it, all in all should be about 2000.00 with the labor unless you have a shop you trust.

If you order the Back To Basix from TEP. There is around a month wait time for one, at least in my case. I have one on order.
