I have a 99 GTP making a humming bearing noise while driving above maybe 20 mph. It is louder if I'm holding a speed whith light gas and when I let off the gas It sounds just like a bearing. I just did the driver side bearing a few months ago and this car had the cv axles done like a year ago. I've done bearings before and know to turn the wheel while driving to hear when it goes away or gets worse to determine the bearing bad but this Is wierd because when I'm on the highway it sounds like the right side bearing and if in doing like 40 or so off the highway it sounds like the driver side i just did. I'e read it could be like a differncial bearing or somthing?? Not sure on this one need some help.

jack the car up and grab the wheel and push and pull at the top of the tire, if it moves the bearing is bad.

bad tires can hum. try rotating the front tires to the back.

rule out the tires and wheel bearings first

front or back? jack up the front end grasp the coil spring when the tires are in motion. a bad bearing will transfer into the coil spring.

tire noise from irregularly worn tires; the tires usually have a feather edge, saw tooth pattern You should be able to see and feel this when running you hand over the tire. When the coil springs sag, the toe setting move more negative and wear the inside edge as the tire scrubs.
