    Hey guys,

So I have an oil leak on the passenger side. Looked as though it was from the pressure switch, and when I replaced it, it was loosely in the port. Started the car, and let it idle, no leak thought I was good. Drove about 10 miles, took a look still not leaking. Then, about a mile from home I get a "low oil pressure" warning, I immediately stopped the car and pulled off to the side of the road. Checked the oil level and it was down at the bottom. Walked 1.5 miles to autozone, bought 5 quarts, and then back to the car. Filled it up so I could drive the 2 miles home. No low pressure light on the way home. I'm suspecting the front main seal. Is there anything else on that side of the car I should be looking for?

I'll pull off the harmonic balancer in a bit, but need to let the car cool down and myself cool down as it is hot as **** outside today

if the engine is real dirty, de grease it and then try to locate where the nice fresh oil is leaking from.

Got the balancer off and yep, it was the front main seal. Was leaking like crazy. Got it all replaced and buttoned up. Runs and drives still, but thought I may have heard a slight knock when reving the engine. So I will keep my eye out for a good long block.

What long blocks would be compatible with the Series 3 S/C? Can I just get an N/A block?

I just did this twice... new one I put in after cam install leaked.
After pulling the balancer again I noticed the snout on the balancer had a fairly deep groove in it from where the old front seal rode and wore for years. It was to the point where I had to throw the HB on the lathe to polish out the groove.
Hope you looked at the condition of balancer snout before shoving it back in.
I replaced it with a GM Delco front seal which seems to be a better press fit in comparison to the National seal that came in the Felpro front cover gasket kit and from my research seems to be what people have the most luck with for a replacement front seal.

mine was leaking between the seal and the cover, not the crank. the HB looked good, no grooving at all.

drove into work today, about 8 miles with a stop half way for a cup of coffee, not showing any signs of leaking. but the moment i pulled into the parking spot the low oil pressure warning came on again. car has plenty of oil, so i'm not sure if this means pump failure or what. either way, not to thrilled this morning.

you should take the pressure sensor out and put a pressure gauge in its place to see what your oil pressure is.

either you got low oil pressure, ( not good) or the sensor is bad. id want to know for sure tho.

I will have to get it towed home in the mean time. Right now I'm hoping for the best but planning for the worst
