Ok, so over the last few days I decided to clean up a few things I've had lingering.

My DIC (lights) were on the fritz and my key fob signal sucked, plus I've had an amp sitting around to fire up my speakers, and lastly I had some gauges laying around I never installed. So I took my dash apart to get to it all...

Now there's a few things befuddling me!

    DRL

my DRL were never on prior to me beginning this work... Only the twilight headlights functioned. The day BEFORE I took everything a part, I had inexplicably left my windows open when we got the torrential downpour. I cleaned everything up, was quite wet as you could imagine, but afterward, whoola, my DRL's worked! Or did they? I pulled the diode when I opened the dash up and they (headlights) still were on! Now that confused me as I don't like the DRL's, so I pulled the fuse for now.

So here's my question. Is there a relay I'm missing or a programming function that tells the GP to activate the drl/twilight? Is it possible the rain fried something? I had the key fob board out of car too (attached wire to antenna to increase range), along with the DIC to replace the bulbs. Does either have anything to do with the twilight? My thinking is the twilight function was working (malfunctioning?), turning on the headlights even though it was broad daylight seeing as I removed the diode for the drl.

    Gauges

Vac/Boost Gauge. I got a used gauge from a seller here, tapped the vac line right before the MAP, but it only sees boost? Lol... Bad gauge? My torque app reads vac&boost no problem and no codes, so there's no vac leak. I haven't tested gauge with vac pump, maybe I should. But boost is off too, shows 5-10lbs @ idle. I'll count it as a loss and chuck the thing, just thought maybe I'm missing something simple (stupidly) lol.

    ***on a side note (rant)

What's up with these damned stealership's! Ordered the DIC lamps, GM part #16151234 which has two pcs (bulbs) per pack right!?!? Kid tries to tell me it's $4.58 per bulb. I lmao, but actually got a little pissed cause he insisted on it. Finally told em just give me my $ back cause I could get them on eBay for $2 no shipping, no tax. I ordered 6 bulbs, 3 packs, should've been $15, he wanted almost $30... Went to Advance auto and got the 24ll bulbs 4 for $9+tax) and did it that way. Just pissed me off that kid!

Anyway, thanks for reading and your thoughts!

About the gauge, I'd say get a new one. Simple as that. If your torque app is showing normal readings I feel like it would have to be something with the gauge gauge itself.

The only thing reasonable I even got at the stealership is supercharger oil, and the cowl water deflector. When the bulbs went out in my DIC and I checked with the "stealership" they wanted to sell me a new one for $400 cuz they don't have the bulbs (more like they were to lazy to look for them).

Yup parts guy don't make the price however at my local dealer the guys are usually cool and give me a discount. I really only buy sc oil from them and I bought a new vacuum line from them a few months back and got that discount. Other then that dealer can kiss my ass when it comes to parts.

Lmao... I even showed the kid the price & same part # on the Internet, even from other GM oem part suppliers! I gave em a chance after all!

I asked him if the dealership is going to sell brake pads as singles next!?!?!

The parts person really can't help it. It's not his parts or money he's just doing his job. The other dealer (Cadillac) usually has a higher mark up on their parts and there's no neg. Dealers are for people who are either under warranty or rather not deal with sourcing or pricing the parts they need.

Nah... I gave the kid benefit of doubt. But unless someone looks up that part # and sees it differently than I, and can convince me otherwise, I'll stand my ground and remain convinced he's just a moron!

    lol...

anyways, any thoughts on the headlights?

    Just so I'm helpfully...

Isn't there a sensor on the dash that tells then drl when to come on/off? Not sure if this applied to the 97-03
