Ok my son got this 1998 GP GTP . The guy he bought it off of said it needed a chip. The battery was dead and it also wouldn't start. After buying the car we looked into the chip and it seems that this GP is not chipped, passkey, or Vat's equip. I then charged the battery and attemped to start the car. The car will crank over but will not start. So now I'm into doing the diagnostics on it. I checked all the fuses and relays and all seem fine. I then found that someone make a bad attempt to repair wires at the computer. I though I was going to get lucky finding those wires hacked. It turn out to be for the high and low speed cooling fans. So I made the proper repairing using solder and shrink tubing, and reconnected the computer. Still no start. Then I checked to see if the fuel pump was getting 12 volts since it didn't run. It wasn't. I then put 12 volts to it and its runs. Wont start still but Im still checking into if there is fuel in the tank and if I can get pressure into the rails. That what takes me here. The strange thing that is going on with the car is when I go to start the car all the dash lights come on, the parking light, plus the headlights and the tail lights. Then the DIC blinks zero's. So just for fun I swapped out my sons other 98 GTP computer to see if it woud change. Still nothing. The 11 ignition main relay under the hood buzzes like crazy. If I remove the relay the cars electronics bug out. The fuel pump speed resistor wiring starts to flash when I check it with my power probe. The Abs turns on and off and maybe some other thing. Also when I hook up my scan tool it wont communicate with it. I have 12 volts at the data link but I cant seem to pull up a diagram of the pins. Im thinking that the Bcm is bad or shorted. Someone put in a after market radio, with a sub then pulled it all out. I'm also thinking maybe he had an alarm in it and ripped that out too. Its hard doing this without wiring diagrams that I pull off the net so I ordered some from EBay. Any help would be appreciated

Ok, the car would definatley have a theft deterrent in the key. However it's under the plastic and you likely don't see it. No worries because you aren't having a security issue. When there is a security problem, the injectors prime with key on, the car starts, then promptly stalls. Doesn't sounds like you are getting that at all.

Also with key on, the pump primes and stops running until the engine runs.

    Have you checked for spark?

I don't think its getting spark. I did the quick screwdriver held by ground and I didn't see any spark. Also we found a crank sensor in the glove box. The car was bought from a storage unit sale. No keys came with the car. I think he changed the ignition lock and keys. Come to think of it, we never tried to see if the key works in the door locks. We know it won't work in the trunk.

Hmmm Ok. I'd pull a plug and see if it's wet with gas. After enough attempts..they should be wet. Then you'll know your injectors and fuel system are working. Next up is spark. There's very little that keeps these things from starting. Check that the crank sensor and cam sensor are both plugged in. Ensure the ICm (under coils) is connected and the bolt is lightly snug.

So I confirmed No Spark no fuel, and a failure to communicate with my scran tool. Data port has 12 volts in the pin all the way to the right (last pin.)
i don't know at this point were the other pins go to

I know it seems stupid but when my car wouldn't start and the dic flashed 0's I found my main grounds were corroded. I scraped and cleaned all surfaces and its all good now. Hopefully it's as easy as that

Fuse for the lighter is good, but I'm also thinking grounds, maybe bad.

Ok.. let's look at the mo spark, no fuel, cause that's not the way it should be. So it gives us a little something to go on.

Turn key to on, do you have constant power at one of the fuel injector pigtail wires? You should. If no..look for fuses.
Have you confirmed the crank sensor is plugged in?

Ok Thanks. Today I'm going to check the Pig tails, crank sensor, and the grounds. If all don't check out I'll pull the under hood fuse box and check for burnt or broken wires as I know all the fuses are good. Thanks

Up Date, I put the car on the lift and found the main harness that runs under the radiator support all ripped up. I'm now in the process if fixing it. I'm hoping it starts up after the fix, The grounds were broken the purple wire off of the starter, A/c plug, oil level,, ABS, and maybe one more wire.
