since i see you're a custom upholsterer, perhaps you might be able to assist me with the project just a bit. i think i am going to have to dye/paint the montana console so it matches the light grey of the GP console. SEM makes their Classic Color oe matching colors, but i'm not sure which one to use! (online color chart are teh sux0rs)

I am not really sure which color to use, since I havent done any 97-03 gp's, only 04+. BUT, In my experience the regular color coat is the way to go. It is what I use everytime, unless it is a 100k+ show car, then I get them professionally painted.

here is a link to where to get it, plus the online chart doesn't suck ba**s. SEM Color Coat For Vinyl, Leather, & Plastics

hmmm interesting. i had thought that the classic coat line was like the regular color coat, but in OE matched colors.

what colors do you use for the 04+ (not the graphite, but the lighter gray)

for this, i intend to use SEM since i should be able to match factory colors. On other projects (PC related) i've used the duplicolor vinyl/fabric dye with excellent results, but i think it depends on what you're trying to cover.

what do you think about the people that have been using the flexible bumper coating on the leather seats??

heh... i suppose it depends on what type of seats they are how well it would stick, but i can see it working, at least for awhile.

woops, you can tell I have had my custom interior too long, my pillars have been wrapped in suede so long I forgot mine had that color at one point. haha. When I actually had that color it looked more like a sandstone more than anything. Pescadero sand is actually a really light gray/tan. That might match best.

yeah, it's possible that that color in the 04's is more 'neutral' rather than grey. i may have to take a piece into the local place that sells the SEM colors and hold it up to the chart.

did you cover all the plastic pieces in the headliner? dome light, etc etc?? that would let you compare to that at least.

i see the color similarity... but that dic/homelink won't fit in the oem gp console.

Yeah my interior is black as night, now. haha. The first time I rode in in my car I was like this was a bad idea, cuz it was so dark riding in it the first time. It has gotten better though.

from what i can seem to narrow down, the 97-03 grand prix's have a medium grey color listed in the interior, gm code 9779 -- and since we know that most everything else inside the gp is charcoal, the medium grey must be up top.

the montana vans have this color listed also, but not sure where that color is, but i bet it's close.
