Hi all, been reading forums and am probably more confused then I started.

I thought you could get a tuner, that gave you the capability to also scan, but it doesn't look like that is true.. Right now my car is mostly stock, I am trying to get it set up to run a 3.5 pulley, but it still isn't running the way it should be. I would like to get a handheld tuner/scanner to find out why it is running funny now, then when the new pulley is put in, tune it.

One forum said to get a scanner, find someone local with a tuner and save that money. My friend said by a tuned PCM. What are your thoughts? I guess what I am looking to find out, is what steps to take, what should be purchased, what shouldn't. I would like to save money where I can.

I live in Boston, Massachusetts area. Anyone local on here? Thanks guys!

typically scanners don't tune, or even flash a new tune.

but all tuner systems will scan the car (and are more expensive).

Year, make, model, mods... Start there when posting questions.

You can scan with tuner, but need a laptop while riding. Aeroforce Gauge scans. Torque Pro is an android app that scans but you need a OBDII Bluetooth device that costs $20, $5 for the app and you can record it to, reset codes. It all just depends what you want to do and how far you want to go. To start, the Torque App route has the least investment with most return.

    good luck

I have 1999 gtp. Right now i have exhaust. Would like to put 3.5 pulley on and tune/scanner. Ive been reading a lot and have been seeing a lot mention pcms, but others say gas mileage and power will be better with custom tune.

I have an iphone is there an app that works for it like the torque one?
