The struts are trying to come through the trunk. I would like to know is this even worth fixing or even possible for a body shop to fix?

It can be fixed, the old metal has to be cut out and new metal welded in. Not sure on the cost.
Goldie 98 Topaz Gold GTP (retired)/ Shadow 06 GTO 6.0 Phantom Black Metallic- traded in. Now cruising a 2005 GMC Sierra 2500 HD 4x4 with the always fun 6.0L

It can be fixed but you gotta ask yourself a few things...is it worth it? Meaning is the car in great condition other then the rust..does it run good..how many miles...etc. Honestly unless you were able to do the repair yourself to justify the cost I would just count my loses and get another GP and part this one out.
