who uses them ? good idea or bad ? im talking fuel and oil additives. a friend works for a place that bottles all the slick 50 products. if a skid gets damadged of the shrink wrap lets the load slide off it gets picked up and thrown out and the employees have the option to take it home for free. needless to say i ended up with about 6 cases of fuel injector & fuel system cleaned and 4 cases of engine treatment. who all believes in this stuff ? i'll probably try it as the price was right but anyone know of a down side.

I was always told there is not fix in a bottle (leak stop). Injector cleaner is good stuff, but should not be used often.

In the injector cleaner sea foam?

NX brand additives from NX directly are the only thing you need to be running in your fuel.

Nitrous Express is based here out of Wichita Falls so luckily I can just go up there and they give me a bottle every now and then.

i know theres no such thing as a fix in a bottle , stop leak i would never think about using unless i wanted to plug my radiator or heater core. this is all slick 50 stuff , not sea foam. usually he drops off cases of brake cleaned or carb cleaner. dont know what ill do with 5 lifetime supllies of this stuff. just leary of dumpin stuff in my motor , i always thought it was just a gimick more than anything.

My philosophy has been that if you are using a motor oil that you have to 'add' something to in order for it to do what it is supposed to do, then you are using the wrong motor oil. Fuel cleaners are good to run once in a while, but again, if you use good fuel then you wont have much problem.

Most of your carbon build up comes from improper a/f ratios or not getting the engine up to temp for a long enough period to burn it off.

I use nothing but Lucas products. upper cylinder lubricant every fill up, and I use oil stabilizer every oil change.

If I were to use an Octane booster... I would use the NOS race formula, becuase it dropped my KR from 4* to none.

I also use the zinc/phosphorus additive to help prolong my bottomend.

I have seen better results from lucas oil stabilazier as well...I occasionally use the upper cylinder lubricant also. Seems to be very effective.

If you're gonna add something to your fuel, stay away from anything containing MMT.

I've not an additive guy at all for oil. Nor is anyway else in my family. Any we've brought motors to the 400,000 miles mark without issues, I think that track record speaks for itself. The only stuff i've used is injector cleaner (Chevron Techron) in the gas tank, I used that a couple times a year, right before I change my fuel filter.

The only other stuff i'd use is if you rebuilding a motor, when you dump in fresh oil before you start it i'd use that GM EOS stuff. Otherwise, thats it for me.....

Only thing I used to use on my old high mileage cars was marvel mystery oil, half a cup mixed with a fresh oil change.
