So the mechanic called me today and it seems there was some sort of rag in my oil pan when i bought it been running fine until Friday when i heard what sounded like a lifter ticking took it to the the shop because i like to take care of my cars and after a little "diagnosis" he took the oil pan off and found the rag and son bearing pins that didn't come from the motor since the super charger had been replace he said that's where they were from the proceeded to tell me that i need a new motor , price tag= 3500$ twice what i paid for the car my cousin is a mechanic in a town about 50 miles away he said the would tow it and replace the motor for 2550$ so i guess what i am looking for are maybe some second opinions. I know it will be tough without physically looking at it but a little piece of info - the first day he had it said it had to much oil so they were gonna drain it and change it and that should resolve the lifter tick and he said he had good new because there was no noise on the lower end. today= he said he heard noise on the lower end and took of the oil pan and found the rag in the suction tube in the oil pan and now says that there is almost no way to salvage the motor and it would be cheaper to replace the motor and this was only the second time in 30 years he had seen a rag like that any opinions would be very helpful and hopefully make my day better thanks a lot everyone

    RIP OFF ALERT!!!

He said he found "bearing pins" that were not from the engine but from the S/C? There is no way that S/C bearings could get into the oil let alone the oil pan. He said there was a rag in the oil pan? The only way a rag would get in there is to actually take off the oil pan and put it in there. IF this was to be true, that you had a rag in the oil pan, you would have seen this problem long before now. How long have you owned this car, have you had work done to it?

There is no way a rag in the oil pan or suction tube will make just one lifter tick...A ticking lifter is not a BIG deal and usually happens on cars with high miles ect..He's trying to rip you off for sure. To take the oil pan off. You would have to drop the cradel or pull the motor wich is a pretty decent amount of work. Tell the jerk off to go play games with someone else and get you're car back.

Let us know if you need any other help man.
