    So i have a 97 GTP that i put cool custom headlights and taillights onto and every once in a while while i would be idling with my rear defroster on, the blinker would blink really fast but go back to normal once i would start to move. No bulbs were burnt out... Now i just put in an Alpine stereo and the blinkers go super fast no matter whether im idling or moving or using my defroster. Im thinking that im using too much power. Can you help?

    probably low blinker fluid levels, check them and top up.

    I had this problem... I just went to Autozone (any parts store has it) and asked the guy at the counter for a bottle. Went in the parking lot, filled her up and never had the problem again.

    I'm thinking of flushing my blinker system and going synthetic myself...

    if that doesn't work grab some good old fix it right black tape and make that blinker never show its face again

    sounds like bad grounds. maybe the battery to body ground.

    The 4 way flashers are fine with the car off and the key out of the ignition.

    That was my first thought! But after constantly looking for where to put the fluid i decided to give up. Also i bought 50 bottles of blinker fluid from AutoZone because thats how many they said i needed. Also shut up

    Here's everything I know:
    At first start the blinkers are fine
    Once they warm up they start to hyperblink
    If the car is moving they will still hyperblink which was untrue before I installed the stereo.
    And the 4 way flashers are fine when the headlights and taillights are on but the car is not running.

    well since you ruled the fluid issue out.

    sounds like bad grounds.

    possibly via stereo install, did you do subs as well?
    maybe lose wires/connections the moving part causing issue.

    Since the lights are custom...you may want to look at your wiring of them and heck..give the grounds a check..lol
    I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Trouble shooting 101, divide and conquer, if you feel stuck; stick it and see what squeals. It sounds like the symptom changed after installing the radio, it went from interment to constantly. I would re-think/re-trace the stereo installation looking for what was touched. That might get you in the area. Also as I was typing my others questions, I had a thought. When you leave your blinker on for too long you get a warning, does that come through the radio? If it does then theres one connection, I just don't remember.

    If I remember right, in the old days the blinker relay worked off of current. It would heat up and bend a metal strip thereby breaking the connections, cooling straightening out, making connection, and repeat the process. In the digital age, does anyone know how it works?

    Also on my 06 GT and 07 GXP, I guess the rear blinker is in the lower light, but the upper one is just tail light. Both cars had the blinker/stop light go out and all I did was swap them. Also until these, if you would have asked me if the key had to be on for the break lights to work I would have said no, but looks like you have to on both the 06 and 07.

    Just thinking out loud, maybe this might trigger some other thought on your problem.

    this is the guts of a regal drl module. it controls the blinkers as well as the drl, mine was acting like the front drl, same bulb as my turn signal bulb, was burned out, (so no frl on one side) but would hyper flash when using the turn signal.

    no sure on the GP, but if its the same kind of set up that could be your problem.


    these two large pieces with all the copper look to electro magnets of some sort, when the blinker is turned on, the metal plate inside the left side edge, see the spring holding it back, it moves the plate to the copper wire's tab, and makes a connection. then blinks.

    Those parts look off the shelf. Can't make out the IC, but unless the board is multi layer that might be able to shot gun them. Is the module expensive? I have had two go out on my 06 GT. The first time low beam did not work and the second time they stayed on. I can't remember looking at the blinkers. When I opened the module the first time, seems like it was parts were sealed up.

    no idea what they cost even used, i got one sent to me via a friend here.

    its just one layer of board. my old one didnt have any burnt spots or anything noticeable wrong. but if i hit it, it would be a temp fix for a short time.

    i just dont know if it works the blinkers like a grand prix does. inside the car some parts are very different between the W bodys.
