Okay so against some peoples advice I got Super 40s from flowmaster and put them on my stock exhaust. I'm not sure if I got lucky or what but it sounds perfectly fine to me. Zero rasp, not loud or obnoxious, no drone on the highway, and with my new intake it sounds even better. But now I need a new downpipe. I've heard the u-bend is the most restrictive part of these cars so I plan on getting a 2.5" 304SS downpipe with cat from zzp. My question is, should I get a resonator delete too, or just leave the stock resonator and stock piping? Money isn't really an issue because I've been getting a ton of hours lately(about 50% more than usual). I've heard it's cheaper and better to just leave the resonator in to eliminate drone and rasp since it isn't very restricting and just get a new downpipe. I've never heard a car without a resonator other than a little 4 cylinder that had rasp already. What are your opinions?

If you delete the resonator you'll have a rasp monster and a horrible sounding car.

If restriction's your concern, why not just get a 3" dp instead of a 2.5" with resonator delete?
IIRC, running without a cat, resonator, and mufflers is only a ~5% hp increase... hardly worthwhile. Taking out the resonator might give you a half a horse if anything at all.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

I installed headers, 3" catless DP, dumped stock res, install small (12"-18"x 3"-4" dia) res from local muffler shop that included the tubing to drop from 3" to stock exhaust and it hardly adds any drone/rasp but sounds great under WOT. Experiment a little.

I've got the same setup your planning on, ZZP dp and Flowmaster 40's. I made the mistake of taking my res off when installing the dp. I put the res back on the next day. Also, the dp will make your car a little louder then it is with just the muffs.

Good answer. And as for the 3" dp question from a previous poster, I don't see the little downpipe being 0.5" bigger creating a huge difference. I appreciate all the feedback, I will definitely leave the resonator on. My car already sounds pretty great and fairly loud(loud enough for my liking about 3k rpm). I think I'll be happy with just the new dp and save a good chunk of change too.
