I noticed my engine was rocking a bit to much when I would go from reverse to drive. So I checked under the hood.

Its on the passenger side in the front of the engine, connected to the dog bone. I guess it is aluminum , it is silver.

I know how to replace the part, I'm just wondering what would cause it to break. I don't want to replace it and it breaks again...

New GM Engine Mount Strut Bracket Grand Prix Impala Regal Lacrosse..Here's a link. It broke about 1/4 inch above the mounting whole on the right side, where it bolts to the upper intake.

What year car do you have? High mileage? I ask because I'm wondering if your rubber mounts *round ones in the dog bones, square ones in the brackets above your radiator* are bad. If you have a lot of play in those rubber mounts it could have lent a hand on breaking it. My $.02 lol

And before you spend $76 for that thing, post an add in the wanted parts section and see if you can get one.. I'm sure people have several laying around.. Heck I had three of them, but went looking for them the last time this happened to someone a couple months ago, but couldn't find them..

Yeah go to a pull a part type yard, it isn't bad to get to just have to pull off the ICM, at least if you get one off once yourself you are ready to go on yours.

They commonly break exactly where yours did. It's pretty normal actually. hell... I pulled a broken one off an engine just last night.
Personally since there's some wiggle room, I think that the one side gets more pressure.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Mind finely broke on the pass. side now here comes the good question....just exactly how do you get that one hex female bolt out? its right up next to an injector and its angle is toward the intake manifold.
