My AC started hesitating before coming on, now it will only come on if it is turned on before starting car, any attempt to adjust it, and it turns off. Or... it doesn't come on at all when started, but will come on much later on it's own...or not.
What could the matter be? I have researched this for a while, but am finding a wide range of topics. Anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks

The heat does this as well

Are you referring to the blower? It wont blow heat/ AC?

Thanks, i thought I had it in the right spot. Yea, it wont blow air or heat most of the time, but every once in a while it will start to blow and either one will work great. It doesnt work more than it will work, but its weird how it sometimes starts up out of nowhere.

I just got this fixed on my car today. Something called a Blower Resistor. Cost me $177 parts and labor to get replaced.

$177.00!!!! Holy cow, the part is only like $20 or so. Its not a particularly easy part to replace, but its not impossible.

Really? If I remember right I got charged $44.50 for the part. Either that's how they make their money or they figured since I'm a woman they could screw me over on charges lol. I tried looking up the part on Autozone but it didn't come up in a search. That's okay.... I still would have had to have them replace it anyway. Hubby can do some of that stuff but we don't have a garage and it's too cold this time of year to work on anything!

Blower resistor huh? Hmmmmm....I sure wish there was a haynes manual for this car. How difficult did you say it was to replace? What do you have to do?

Its not difficult in the actual replacement. What makes it difficult is that a couple of the bolts holding everything in are rather difficult to get to. You will need some type of flexible driver to get to it.

I'll have to see if there is some kind of write up on doing the work. Maybe there is something in the How To area.

Its not terribly hard to do. I know Ive seen a write up somewhere.

If anyone knows of a write up, please post up, it would be a great help.

    bump....

Just a quick description of where this part is may help too......not trying to drag this on

searched and found a description of where the resistor is. Thanks for the help. here it is for anyone else who comes across this post. Ill be damned if I can afford 170 dollars to pay someone else to do this for me.

Let us know how it goes. I wish I had done a write up so that others could see how it was done and to be honest Im not sure why I didnt, I normally take advantage of such things so that others will have some direction.

I love my 5.0, but a little civilized muscle is a good thing! Especially when it always runs and doesn't leave you stranded on the highway.....
