    Hello,

I've been looking at Grand Prix's for a while now and I'm looking at a 2008 GXP.

I have read lots of horrible stories about the transmissions going as early as 29,000 miles.

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the transmissions on these cars and if it really is a reason to avoid them or if they made some improvements in the 2007,2008 models. Most of the horror stories I have read involved pre 2007 Prix's and I read somewhere of some changes made after that including the use of a newer transmission fluid.

Anyways look forward to hearing what you guys have to say! Thanks!

The Trannies in all Grand Prix's are the weak leak...but like somebody said, you beat on it, it will break.

Alot of guys over on LS1Tech in the LS4 section have gotten a built tranny which can run about $1,500-$1,800....well worth the money since you never have to worry about it breaking really.

Also if you get lighter wheels and don't do burnouts, it will prolong the life of the tranny. Less rotational mass on the tranny is a good thing.

Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.
