So for my family when it rains it pours.. Yesterday I discovered my dads Eldorado has a blown head gasket and its pretty much shot. Today for some unknown reason my car alarm started going off for maybe 5 seconds then went off.. Any ideas? My keys were in my room and nobody was touching them or the car. It just went off for an unknown reason..

He sold his GP a long time ago. I had the same issue intermittently that decided to go away on its own accord so I'm ignoring it too.

I have the same issue. My car alarm randomly will honk 5 times, then stop. I believe this is the theft deterrent system malfunctioning, probably old sensors that have become too sensitive. Your manual describes how to change the settings for this system to be less sensitive, I just never bothered.

If you lock the car with the key fob, the system is engaged. If you give it a good shove or two with the system on, it'll probably do the same thing.
