Hey guys I am on the forum daily and have tried to do the search to fix the problem but cant find anything. I have a 00 gtp and just this morning the seat belt light came on. Searched around to find a thread saying to disconnect the sensor in the belt buckle to turn off the light. I found the one that connects to the buckle and disconnected it, but the light is still on...even when the car is completely off and I am outside of the car. This worries me because even though it is a small light, it can ultimately drain my battery. Is there any other way of disconnecting the light prior to going into the dash? (Trust me i tried disconnecting everything down there and the light is still on...).Thanks for the help

Hmmm interesting one that isn't common. Let's keep this up top until someone has the schematic/answer for you.

I had this happening when I first got my 00 Grand Prix back in 04... I bought the car from a bank because it was repossessed they had it rewired with the factory alarm shut off and that little seatbelt light has something to do with it being rewired. It never drained my battery but after a couple months of having it I took to Pontiac to a buddy of mine that worked there and they fixed it and I cannot remember what they did!!!! Sry!!! Lol

Did you get it code scanned? p0650, the same code im getting, can set off any number of lights for no reason. (or so my research tells me... it may also keep lights from coming on in the first place.)

try un hooking the seat belt wire from the pass side? if it has one? not sure if the car cares if the passenger wears a belt or not.

A lot of auto parts stores will do a free code scan. Kragen (aka O'Reilly) and Advanced Auto are two that i can verify by personally using their services.

My car started doing this shortly after I got it. It went away after I replaced the ignition switch.

What problems would I encounter with the lock cylinder. I did however recently get two fobs synced to the car. I guess I should have mentioned that earlier. I synced them but everything was fine. then a day or two later the seat belt light came on...

For me i just had trouble turning the key out of the lock position, felt like I was using a worn out key.
And are you able to use the accessories with the key out? (windows, radio, etc)

After reading this I thought back and I had synced a fob right before mine came on as well.
Keep an eye on your fan controls. Mine started working on and off shortly after.
