Re: Car using alot of gas- Frusterated
i don't know how you drive or how much is highway but missing overdrive gear will take about 4-6 mpg off highway. if you were getting 22 highway that is horrible to start with. it should be 28 mpg highway and 18-20ish city.
to make sure its working, drive the car at 70 mph or so and look at the rpm's. they should be at 2000. if they are at 3000 you have lost overdrive.
the driver center, the thing that tells you your fuel mileage, is an average reading. so if you are driving on the highway your average mpg reading will go down if you don't have overdrive.
Re: Car using alot of gas- Frusterated
im almost betting it is the MAF, im having the same problem.
but its whatever, idles fine and doesnt cut off..yet.
Re: Car using alot of gas- Frusterated
Car is running smoothly, getting reading from my info center in car, which now I am getting 17.6 mpg on highway instead of 16 mpg and my service soon engine light is not on. Also keep hearing this hissing or air leak sound around my air filter hose that is connected to my engine, buts it's not coming from that. The only other thing I could think of is my tranny
Re: Car using alot of gas- Frusterated
Oh and rpms are at 2000 at 70 mph on highway
Re: Car using alot of gas- Frusterated
You do reset the info center while you drive right?
The trans sounds normal to me, rpms should be at 2,000 at 70mph.
