My brother ran my 2001 grand prix gtp out of gas the other night now it take a little longer to start cranks more than it did, the gauge doesn't work it follows the tach if I'm accelerating it goes to full could the pump be going? How hard is it to change these cars will u have to drop the tank and its a two door.
Also the tach goes to zero and the tcs light has been coming on a little more often which I see is common for the crankshaft sensor to go in these cars could my problems be connected.

    Thank you

You don't have to drop the tank.

Pull the trunk lining back from the wall of the back seat, and there is an access panel to lift off.

Hard to say what is wrong exactly.

Sounds like the fuel sender is going bad. You can access the pump through the access plate in the rear of the car. Think it's in the trunk near the back seat. No need to drop the tank.

And yes, change that crankshaft position sensor. Doubt the fuel gauge issue is being caused by the CKPS

U think by running the tank dry it hurt the pump even more it makes a very loud whinning noice sometime really really loud but it goes away u think its the sending unit making gas gauge go up and down

when you turn the key for the first time, the pump primes, thats the buzzing sound you hear, then it stops after 3 to 5 seconds.

sounds like the sending unit went. being the gas gauge dont work.

heres a vid. its a simple swap.

I like the napa pumps, they come with a warranty and seem to be really good quality.

It will be alot cheaper than a dealership.

Kaw- I'd get a whole new pump/sender assembly if I were you. Since the fuel gauge doesn't work and now the pump is dead as well. No sense just replacing the pump when you will have access to the fuel sender at the same time. I actually scored an OEM GM pump/sender for my Bonneville off of Amazon for a good price. No messing w/ changing senders out, etc.. Just drop in and go.
