Hello everyone, my 04' Grand Prix has trouble starting sometimes. Usually I have to press the gas in order to get the engine to start. After that it runs like a champ! But if the car is sitting over night it starts normal (without pressing gas) But it's very annoying and I know it's not supposed to do that. I'd like to know some of the possible reasons it may be doing that. I also have a engine light on for a bad thermostat and was told it may be related but I'm not sure how. Any help with understanding my starting problem would be great help, Thank you.

Mine used to have that same problem. Clean your MAF and throttle body and it'll start without so much as a hiccup.

Unbolt the whole thing, should be like 3-4 bolts. You want to clean the throttle body blade and the whole bore, it will be all nasty and black.

Don't be afraid if a little coolant comes out, it won't be much if any, but there is a coolant passage that goes through the throttle body. Check the gasket while you have it off.
