If you're not getting fuel pressure at the rails on a 2008, the pump is definitely the prime suspect. It's priming, but maybe it's just super weak. Since fuel pump assemblies are kinda expensive, I wonder if you could pull the pump and test it before the purchase. I guess you could just unhook the lines, pop a hose on the end leading to a bucket, right?
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

I would check fuel pressure with a gauge before buying a pump. Did you check for codes? Just because it starts with fuel being added does not mean the pump is bad. If somethimg is keeping the injectors from pulsing it will show the same symptom.

Any mechanic worth a dime hooked a gauge on first thing.

I agree. I was so surprised that he didn't have a gauge. I am actually going to a part store to rent a gauge and check it myself and finish the job. I refuse to buy a fuel pump until I know for sure if the pressure is right.

I occasionally work on cars in my garage at my house in my spare time and I have a fuel pressure gauge. I don't know about this guy you go to.

Yea that definitely is a good point. But I am going to put a gauge on the rails first as soon as I can find one for a reasonable price. Those things are expensive

Being an 08, you can't check your fuel pressure at the rails, because there is no schrader valve on 04+ rails when they changed to a returnless system.

Simple way to check for fueling is to pull a plug after you've turned they key on and off a couple of times. Each time you do that, the injectors should prime the cylinders with a little fuel. Plugs would be wet quickly. Your mechanic's test of adding fuel and having it fire is good to conclude the cylinders aren't getting fuel. However with the key on and a multimeter set to voltage, look for 12v+ on one of the injector wires. Our injectors have voltage when the key is on and the pcm pulses ground to them. If you don't see power, then check the fuse.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Ok thanks I will try what you advised. But actually I do have a schrader valve on my fuel rail. The mechanic was pressing the valve stem to see if fuel would shoot out of it. Fuel did shoot out when pressed but it wasnt very much pressure.

!!!!UPDATE: Took my car to have it diagnosed and it has been determined that my PCM needs to be reflashed. I have no idea what that means and the mechanic doesn't know why it happened. He said the fuel injectors are not getting fuel to them and its because the PCM is not working properly. He also told me that only the dealership can reflash the PCM. Does this sound legitimate???

Someone with an aftermarket tuner could reflash it.
I've never heard of a tune going bad. Are you using the same mechanic? Maybe some of the other guys here have seen this, but I'd get a second opinion, which the dealership will probably give you. I'd be more inclined to believe in an electrical short from the PCM. If you knew all the work your mechanic did, instead of just his conclusion, that would be way more helpful. Like your algebra teacher said, "show your work for full credit."

i had to have my pcm on my 03 gmc truck re flashed as well, it was under warranty so i have no clue what they charge for this.

i would guess at least 1 hr @ shop rate.
