    Hey All!

I have to lift my 08 Grand Prix this weekend to get do some work on the underbody, as well as apply an anti-rust spray. I have a two ton floor jack, and three ton Jack stands with grooves designed to fix under the car's pinch welds. My problem though is locating a safe place to lift the car in order to place the jack stands. If anyone can describe something to me, or maybe has a diagram handy, I would greatly appreciate it!

Sub-frame. Go in straight from the front, slide it under till it right on the sub-frame and you'll lift up both front tires at the same time. With the e-brake on of course so the car doesnt roll.

On the side skirts there should be 2 arrows on each side that indicate the jack points.
What i do is use a low profile jack on the horizontal sub frame thingy under the engine.

To be honest, i've never been a technical guy when it comes to words. Maybe i'm a bit stupid like that, but subframe means nothing to me. It's the same with fender. I've always referred to them as "those panels on the front end behind the bumper." This is why a diagram would be very useful to me.

Re: E IN vY, I can't use the sides because I don't have enough room to place both a floor jack and a jack stand without putting pressure on the side skirts.

The horizontal bar directly below the engine is the sub frame.
    Its about 3" wide.

See where his hand is, thats the front of the subrame. Just past that will be the oil pan and trans pan. Once you under the front of the car you'll see it all. Just jack up right in the middle of the front of the car.

See, the word subframe didn't help, but like they say, pictures are worth 1000 words. You are a god my friend So basically, run the floor jack right under the Pontiac Logo on the front bumper, to that bar, lift from there. Thanks a million my friend!

We call it a sub-frame because our cars are a uni-body. We don't have a solid frame like a truck or crown vic type car.

The body is the frame but then we use the sub-frame to bolt the suspension and motor too.

In this picture its pretty much just a giant square made of aluminum box tubing.

Uni-body meaning that The frame and the body are sort of an all in one type deal, with the exception of the doors, bumpers, hood, and trunk, I believe?
