I would have that code scanned and see what its telling you. Could be a misfire or something like that too.

    Nope.

And usually when there is a flashing ses light it means something more seriouse then a non flashing one. For instance a misfire.

You probably do have a misfire or is something associated with your maf. But get it scanned

yeah it was a cylinder 5 misfire.....time for a tune up? i did remove that plug last week to check them since i just got the car maybe i messed up the wire or crakced the plug on mistake....water drops making their way past the headlight and into my FWI cant cause a misfire can they?

Not likley. Check the spark plugs for cracks in the ceramic. Check your plug it self and check the plug wire along with that coil pack.

Well Acdelco is pretty good. When getting plug wires just make sure they have a lifetime warranty on them. I have headers and have not been able to get plug boots yet and it has come in very handy since the headers are always burning through the wires. As for plugs you should get autolite 605's and gap them at about 45 if they are not already gapped when you get them. the plugs are not more then 150 each and you can get them at wal-mart. the plugs shouldnt be more then like 40 bucks but you can cheaper ones.

ok i ended up getting autolite double platinums because they had warranty they came gapped at .60 but i regapped them to 45 because you said to and the car runs and pulls much better but i noticed it takes way longer to start....is this because i reduced the gap? is 45 better than 60 and why?

I'm not sure why you were told to gap them to .45, I have always gaped mine to .60(stock specs). Good to hear you are running better.

I told him to do it. I appoligize. While I have mine gapped at .045 it would be better if he would stick to stock specs because he pretty much is stock. It's a lot harder to run a big gap on a modified set up such as mine.

But again i apoligize for giving you bad advice.

It's all good, at least he's running and running well.

I would however like to know when you would need to do this. I know that the higher the compression or more boost you would need a stronger spark using stronger ignition components. Is getting a stronger spark by gaping the spark plugs to a smaller gap a way to achieve this without using stronger ignition components?

I would go to Autozone and get a battery/alternator check, they can do it all on the car. Check your cables for corrosion and being loose. Should be an easy day.
