ive done a water pump on an exlporer before and i read a diy on how to do the one on the grand prix. I saw that are a couple bolts in the coolant passages. Im guessing that these get rtv right?

its fairly easy, break the 4 bolts on the pulley loose first, then remove the belt/belts if sc.

the take the p/s pump off, just lay it to the back. theres a hole in the pulley, at the 12 and 6 o clock position is the bolt. a 13 mm and a 3 inch extension. taking the alt off can help see a bit better working on the p/s pump.

if your supercharged you need a t 55 to get the lower idler off. this idler and the p/s pump block bolt a bolt from coming out.

the 4 long bolts need thread sealant on them, as they pass thought the the block to the water jacket.

when you put it back on, the last thing you do after the belt is back on is to tighten the 4 pulley bolts.

buy it on line, advance.com, enter the discount code at the top of their page. then pick it up, you'll save a few bucks like that.

battery can stay put, but the over flow bottle if you have one needs to go, and i moved the fuse box out of the way.

i had a few days before i put it on, and a can of black paint, so i painted it.

I cant really see the battery being in the way. I saw someone pull the fuse box, which i could see helping a little, but seems like more work than necessary. it looks like a pretty easy job.

im a rather large guy, 6'6" and wear 3 x gloves, my fore arms were getting scratched up from it, i un screwed that small nut on the top, and tied it up the fender.

i also failed to drain any coolant Pryor to taking the pump off, i let it drain into a pan as it leaked from the water pump as the bolts came out. why dump the whole radiator???
