I've got a 2001 SE that I don't drive much. It's right around 75k miles. A while back the rear defroster stopped working. Shortly after that, the blower levels 1-4 stopped working. The blower still works on level 5 but it's only warm or hot air, nothing remotely cool. Are the two problems interconnected? If so, would replacing the ignition switch fix both?

Would either of the problems above cause a battery to slowly drain? The past couple winters I've fought with my car to keep the battery charged. I do have some subwoofers and larger amps that I believe are the main culprit for draining my battery, but I wondered if a bad ignition switch might also be contributing to it. Any help would be appreciated.

A bad blower motor resistor is normally the cause of the blower fan only wokring on 5.

The rear defrost might be a fuse, check it and check for power at the connectors.
