I have had some ongoing issues with a recently purchased used 98 GP. I have replaced the headlight housings and bulbs and it helped some. Biggest issue now is with high beams--when activated the seem to "point down" and not down the road at all.

    Any help is appreciated.

Any electrical modifications to the car? Check to see that the bulbs are seated firmly and that they are not 9004 bulbs. Park 20 feet from a vertical wall at night and take some photos of your low and high beam patterns.

Other than what backinblack said, I'm not sure if the older body GP's have the reflector on the high beams or not but on my headlights that's what made mine seem to tilt incorrectly. Also if you have replaced your housings and they're not OEM they might not fit perfectly, you can always try moving them a little.

Check to be sure the bulbs are seated all the way. The metal stop ring can sometimes get loose off the back of the plastic housing. What brand 9007 bulbs do you have in there? I bought some crappy ones a while back that were made incorrectly, and the filaments were not in the right positions. Stick with brand name like Philips, Osram, Sylvania and GE.

I tried "going cheap" and bought these off 3bay, but the original sylvania 9007 were even worse. I was going to go silverstar, but wanted to try a less expensive route first.

Good idea... also I had a problem where the whole lens was not set into the grill properly. That effected hi and low beams though.

Metal light diffuser will not cause that.

Your bulbs are upside down. Turn em right side up and then see what happens

The base of the bulb is keyed, so you shouldn't be able to install them improperly. I did have a set of 9007 bulbs once that were manufactured incorrectly, and the filaments were way out of whack. Produced horrendous output...

Key. There are two of them, offset by not quite 180°.
