Own a 06 gp gxp. It has the hard plastic rad cap. I try to loosen it and it loosens then tightens back up. If I go the other way it does the same thing. How do I get this off?......Hit it with a hammer? Also how much is a new one?

Push down while you turn and it will come off.

Well.....I have tried that and it won't come off. Is there a way to pry it off? Only reason I want this off is because I would like to do a flush

Don't pry. You'll break it and end up having to replace the radiator. There's a special tool you can buy for it.

Or...Spray some silicone spray on it...let it soak...push down and twist like your life depends on it with a wrag or something so your don't hurt yourself. No pb blaster. Petroleum products and plastics don't go well together.

GXP's have like a sealed rad per say, it just has hoses coming to and from it, there is no cap.

The "rad cap" is on the pulley side of the motor on top near the PS pump I think, its just a screw on style.

Every time I've removed one I just push down and turn.

If it still doesnt want to move, grab a pair of channel locks and twist it off.

1 cross thread is equivalent to 2 tubes of loctite.

i dont think its crossthreaded, when i first got my car checking fluild levels i had a hard time too. I would turn about half a turn it would get tight, once i would get past that is was fine. I do know of this. And the cap is at the top of the remotly mounted pump. cant miss it lol
