My apology for being GM ignorant, my recently acquired Grand Prix is my first. Here's my question. I have a 1997 Thunderbird with a 4.6l V8 and of course the automatic. I wanted a manual. I found a wrecked 2000 Mustang also with the 4.6 and a 6-spd. Over one weekend a friend of mine and I removed the Thunderbird's engine and trans, dropped in the Mustang's engine/trans, pedal assembly, the exhaust system, and it's better brakes. We then flashed the ECU's automatic control codes and it's been good for 7 years no with no issues at all. Couldn't this be done as easily with a Camaro/Firebird with a 3800 and a manual trans?
    Thanks
    Tom

edit: what i REALLY wanted to ask but keep forgetting was how much electronics are there that need moding to get the pcm not to freak out cuz there is no transmission to change gears

AAMCO can flash all automatic transmission control codes out of the ecu/ecm/pcm in all of about 15 minutes.

Well, no. The Tbird an the Mustang were both Factory Rear wheel drive cars. Is the GP RWD???
