Guys, need some help. Got a '97 Gt, just replaced the drivers side door lock actuator w/ one from a junk yard. The old one was having difficulties unlocking my drivers side door (had to hit unlock multiple times). Figured I would change it out. Installed the new lock actuator and hooked everything up and now I can not electrically lock ANY of the doors, with the fob or with any of the interior lock switchs. The Unlock function on all the door switch and fob work though. When I go to lock the doors everything is completely dead. No clicks, nothing. All rods are installed and electrically connection secure.

To trouble shoot I swapped out the new (junk yard part) with my old lock actuator since it was working fine to lock/unlock doors before removal. With the old actuator installed the same issue occurred. The unlock buttons work and the lock buttons doesn't, its absolutely dead. I then disconnected one of the electrical plugs to the harness, and then both the lock and unlock buttons work perfectly but my radio stays on when I turn the car off and open the door, the radio should turn off the moment I open the drivers door when the car is off.

So my question is, since this part is from another car could it have tripped something in the computer? Or lock module that disabled the lock functions? What could be the issue?

    Thanks

There's nothing that would identify the part to anything in your car.

Unplug the one that you put in and see if the locks actuate.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

Thanks Bill I appreciate the reply.

Both (new and old) actuators cause the same problem, in that when installed the electronic switches won't actuate the locks. This was never an issue before I did the part swap. That is why I thought the part may have been identible to the car's computer or something.

Any thoughts or suggestions on why none of the locks will lock none but will unlock electronically?

Yeah, I made a suggestion. Unplug the connector at the one you swapped. Then try it. If that gives you anything it's likely the wiring at that connector.

I did that already as stated in my original post. When unplugged, both the lock and unlock functions on the switch work properly throughout the car. I looked at the connector briefly and everything looked good on it. Guess I'll take a closer look.

Sorry, I had read it this way:

I didn't see that you disconnected the connector to that one actuator. Without seeing it first hand, sometimes the wording can be intrepreted differently.

So it sounds like you have something that happened to the wiring when you swapped it. Look over the wiring and test it all out very well.

Yeah I'm going to dig back into it this weekend and check it all over well.

And yes I agree, sometime it is difficult to decipher the meaning of words from others. Words are tricky especially w/out pictures.

Thanks again Bill I'll post later after I look over the wiring.
