You are welcome. It's pretty common knowledge once you start diving deep into these cars, programming and transmissions.
The only reason that your intake/exhaust made such a difference is that the engine is revving faster now and likely your trans is old and worn. Which means it's taking a lot longer to shift into the next gear. This is potentially bad for over revving and possibly kabooming you rmotor.
Once my car is ready for the engine modifications part of that includes a live tune thru the PCM which will enable my tranny to handle the extra power ill be putting under the hood. I'm not sure if I want to play with the shift points or not tho.
A tune will not enable your trans to handle more power. A tune can remove the factory safety features (torque management) programmed in to keep you from destroying the transmission.
However..if you find that holding the shifter in gears is what you want, then essentially that is raising shift points. Why not program them in and have both hands on the wheel?
I just actually had my tranny checked and it's in perfect condition! After opening everything up she shifts a lot smoother than before!
That would have been a trans service.
Dropped the pan. Looked around, and saw nothing out of the ordinary, put new filter in and closed the pan, refilled. This means dick, absolutely and totally nothing can typically be told on a good working trans from dropping the pan.

Look as much as you'd like around all the albums. I'd suggest transmission and modding visits. As well as heads/rockers etc. This is stuff I've done and snapped pics. I've learned a little about these transmissions and engines along the way.

FYI: My prefect condition stock trans w/75k on it lasted about 5,000 miles with 330whp before it couldn't hold the shifts anymore.
I doubt any twelve year old W-body tranny is in perfect condition. If you are planning on being this harsh on the car on a regular basis you will want to look into a fully built unit before you turn yours into confetti.
Ok that does make a lot of sense! Thanx for bringing that up I appreciate that! I'm going to get deeper and deeper into this the closer I get to my car being ready to going into the shop. I guess what I'm driving at is the maximum traction I can get with higher hp. I do know I do get better take off and traction manually shifting not to mention its a lot more fun. Lol

Traction is a W body is challenging due to the weight transfer. Read up on spring blockers and something called the cable mod.
That's in the area of 450hp. The right flow mods were made and muffler was still in place.

First gear is first gear, it doesn't matter if you start in D or 1, you will still be using the same ratios. Same with 2 and 3. But do what you want, just be open to the idea that everything you see in Fast and Furious might not always be true.
I bought the car just about two years ago and I get regular maintenance and check ups done on it to ensure that nothing is failing or faulty. I had it in the shop bout a month ago and every thing was checked out a-ok.
Please keep in mind the advice I'm tossing at you is to keep you driving and happy vs sitting on the side of the road waiting for AAA. Been there..used my 4 tows a year a few years in a row.
Now..back to your regularly scheduled shifter handle replacement.
Ok ya everything makes a lot of sense! Granted my knowledge of transmissions is really really limited! I thank you for the valuable information and knowing all this now has definitely changed my mind I know I'm gonna have a complete tranny rebuild ASAP and have everything checked out and replace whatever I need to to make sure she's in tip top condition!
My opinion...the only type of shifter worth upgrading to....

Hold up on that trans rebuild. Be reasonable to yours and start researching trans builds. You'll come across TripleEdgePerformance.com and a few other tidbits at you learn. I always suggest reading and reading and asking questions ....then saving for a build.
Learn what you want and need before jumping into it. My first trans build was right around $3500...that one got rebuilt about 5 times in 2-3 years. Then I built another (right, everyone should have two race built transmissions) and that held together for about 3000-5000 miles. Actually pretty good for my average mileage between issues. Not saying my experience is "normal" however you sound like you may enjoy driving in a similar fashion.
