Need to find a cooling leak on my 97 GTP. Just replaced pump and 90 degree bypass. Still have a leak showing up around the oil filter area. Intake looks dry on front of engine and rear head appears to be dry. Can any one help?

clean the engine up get it dry, then pressure test the system. its a pump that you put where the rad cap goes and you pump it up, then go look for the leak, you do this with the car off.

    do this!

you can test it when its NOT HOTT! and you will find out if and where you have a leak because 1 you wont have a running engine and 2 it wont be hott...

I sell them on my truck. very very handy tool! it will be cheaper to buy the cooling system pressure tester than it will be to pay a mechanic.

Ok, I tried to get some dye today but had no luck. I may take it to a shop this week and see what they say. It has 190k on it but still runs good and looks good so would like to fix it.

Did you put thread sealer on the threads of the bolts that go into the water jackets on the water pump?

Yes I did but going to take a close look at them to see if the leak could be there.

I used the one I got from the dealer, it was not purple, it was either orange or red, the one on the plastic elbow would be way to small. I did have to reuse one on the heater hose, because the dealer only had one which I thought was strange that they didnt have enoungh on hand to do a job, that hose isnt leaking.
