ok i know alot of threads on this topic, but wanted to be sure that im gettin this right. my heater and a/c motor stopped working. it worked on all levels and then i the fan started making noise. like a scretching noise then would have no noise but still work then one day it stopped working. my headlights dont dim or go out, and no other electrionics are acting wierd. the guy who had it before me said he switched the actual control panel under the radio and it "worked" for him. the panel still works to the best of my knowledge because the rear defrogger works and all the lights work on it. i plan on switching this out here soon but i wanted to get an opinion on what it might be. my guess is the blower motor went out. ideas?

More likely than not its your blower motor resistor, you have to take the blower motor out to get to it, it's a real pain in the ass.
I laid upside down on my passenger seat to do it.
It only works on 5 since it bypasses the resistor on that setting.
If you had that problem AND your headlights and DIC would go off on settings 1-4 then it would more than likely be your ignition switch.
On mine I had the DIC an headlights turning off problem but I still did the resistor first since doing the switch is a lot more meticulous work taking the column apart. I could've gotten away with just doing the switch but sooner than later that resistor is going to go.

    Good luck.

I guess I missed that part. Lol
If it were me, I'd replace them both. It's all up to you though... You can take your blower out and hook it up to your battery with some speaker wire to see if it works still (that's what I did, dunno if that can "mess it up" at all or if it's a significant way of testing it or not but mine has worked for 3 months after testing it this way) if you do decide to test it that way it's a two person job, that blower is a pain to hold on to while it's running and ya don't want to have it hit you while it is.

My buddy saved his blower after it started screeching by taking it out and spraying a little PB blaster in it. But he had one of his dashboard clips stuck in the blower as well and IMO that's what the noise was.

You will see why you wanna replace the resistor when you get the old one out and compare it to the new one... Should've been that heavy duty to begin with.
