I am going to be adding a glasspack to my exhaust this week as well as getting and exhaust leak taken car of.

I have been trying to decide what glasspack to buy (Even though Thrush and Cherrybomb will pretty much sound the same) but has anyone put a Magnaflow glasspack on their W-body? It's about the same price as the other two.

I have the entire magnaflow catback. It droned for the first couple months I owned it. Much better now that its fully "broken in" so to speak.

As for the resonator itself, its the style that doesn't do much sound dampening yet flows really well.

100% agreed, I've had the full magnaflow catback on my car since january when i got it, at first it made my ears want to bleed on the highway but now its barely even loud. Outside it has a nice meaty tone, The resonator makes no difference honestly, a friend of mine has the same catback on his 04 and he removed the resonator. You can barely here a difference between his and mine, if anything it makes his just slightly louder thats it no more drone tho without it

I too would like to buy the magnaflow resonator that ZZP is selling on their website. Already have magnaflow mufflers that have a great tone, but are too quiet. And no cat lol.

Probably because the resonator is the flow friendly style. Doesn't do much for noise levels.

I'm still not sold on the sound on the interior, but on the exterior its surprisingly decent.

I am talking about a glasspack from magnaflow not a resonator:

MagnaFlow Exhaust Products - For Trucks, Suv's, American Muscle, Diesel, & Sport Compact Vehicles

Can be had on Amazon for about $35 shipped.

I might just pick up the super long Thrush glasspack and call it a a day. 35" overall shouldn't be too big should it? I know the other one people mainly use is about 31" overall.

It's not the same even though a lot of people will call it a resonator. Actually a glasspack has more of a straight through design vs a resonator which will usually be baffled inside. Also most glasspacks us a perforated core with fiberglass but the better ones use stainless steel packing or another material instead the will not blow out as easy. Hence the reason that companies sell "resonators" and "glasspacks" instead of calling them all one thing. There is a difference.

Having heard a 318 with just a thrush glass pack, I think you'll like it.

you will get sick of glasspacks unless you like having to crank the radio to max every time you drive just to hear it. on a side note, i have the powerlog/ceramic crossover/prm/3" catted downpipe/dynomax catback and it was a shockingly quiet setup. i pulled the baffled resonator off and the flow improved drastically and the sound is just right. in my opinion, i would recommend getting some high flow mufflers; keep it loud at WOT, quieter at cruise.

Are you saying that your car was louder with a glasspack than it was with no glasspack or resonator?

I am getting this and the guy doing the welding will have to make it work:

Thrush 24211 - Glass Pack Exhaust Muffler | O'Reilly Auto Parts

It's 35" overall and 4" around. Should be a little bigger than what most people use.
