    Hello All,

Not sure where to post this so...

I noticed the passenger side front window was down yesterday, not being an unusual occurrence, accept it did it on its own. Took the panel and barrier off and noticed the cable hanging loose. I had to force the window up. ( at least its staying up)

I did a search in the how to, but did not find how to repair this. Can I replace the cable or do I need more than that to get it working again? Nay help would be most appreciated!

    2002, 3.8 V8, 4 door, power windows.

There is a way to fix the cable. I ran across a post somewhere I will see if I can find it. You could probable get a used regulator assembly out of the bone yard for around $40. They are pretty simple to change out.

theres no way to repair the cable, you need whats called a window regulator, it comes with new tracks, motor and the cable. cost about 50 on line or less used.

Do this. You are better off replacing the entire thing.

x3 It's a pretty common problem. All 4 of mine went at different times.

The cable tends to get kinked somewhere and pop off track, and then you'll play hell trying to get it to work right again. Easiest thing to do is to replace the whole assembly.

Make sure to use some tape, or have someone else hold the window up while you do this, so that you can use both hands, and it doesn't fall and break inside the door.

    Thanks everyone!

    Yup Utter99, plane jane stocker. ( I meant V6, sorry! Maybe its a V12?)

Is it a hassle to use the same motor, does after market connect right up to the old motor?

You can use the stock motor if you choose. It's held onto the regualtor with 3 bolts. I'd just keep the stock motor as a spare and use the one that comes already attached to the new regulator. Once you do these enough you can get one in and done in about 20 min start to finish, lol... Yea, they tend to break often.

BTW, lube the felt window guides w/ some greasless dry lube really well. These windows like to stick to the felt and it can cause the regulator to do exactly what you see now. Even if it doesn't "feel" like its sticking it probably is just a bit.

new window regulators come ready to go, all power plug match up.

don't bother with the motor swap, just get the whole thing new.

you can also spray down all the cable and slides with graphite lock spray. it helps them last longer.
