vacumn leak help

alright ive been hunting down a vacumn leak its a small leak to small to throw a code but big enough to make my LTFT 16.4 at idle i have yet to take cab cleaner to the vacumn lines to find the leak i just did a visual inspection everything looks good except the BBV this looks to be a problem





how do i check if its the BBV its self?

the car is a 99 L67 with 176k miles on it and im only making 5psi of boost

Just replace that bad vac line with a new piece of vac line

i would cut the old line, like a slice with a sharp razor knife right at the end where it goes over the plastic vac tree. if you pull and try to twist it, well those things break easy.

ok but that looks like a problem right? and i know i need to replace it but that doesnt look like vac line it seems more like a rubber house?

Be careful with that vacuum tee it will break. You can use regular vac line for the bbv. The replacement tee is $20 from the dealer, might as well pick one up

its just fat, still a vac hose, take a piece with you to the store and match it up.

When my car was blown I used a regular piece of line and it was fine

Get rid of that crappy gm plastic lines too that go under the blower and use vacline I'm sure that is contributing to the vac leak

i hope not there sooooooo much vac line on this engine i dont wanna go though all of that

to replace all the vac lines really isn't that bad, if you really look close they just kinda make a loop around the engine. just a bunch of stop and goes..lol

if you look through some members rides, some guys have colored vac hose, makes it easy to see where the new stuff is.

That one isn't causing you an issue. It's funny how you took a pic, posted the pic, asked the question. In under 2 minutes you could have started the car, sprayed TB cleaner and found the actual leak that you have.

Just saying..posting is great, solving issues though..thats where it's at.

bill i was out of carb clean yesterday! anyways bill is right sprayed it with carb clan and no dice this line is not the issue where else should i check? or should i just spray everyline? what im asking is there any other known problem areas that could be causing my leak

Spray where the
TB meets the charger
PCV cover is bolted to charger
Where that vacuum manifold on top of the charger
the booster connects to the hose
along the base of the SC
Under the SC snout at the vac line

alright thanks bill ill check those spots when the rain lets up, besides carb clean and watching for rpm spikes what other ways can i hunt down this vacumn leak? any tricks you all know of?

Yes..you can hope for miracles. Or..just follow the cheap easy advice already given.
