I am having an intermittent strange issue, at least strange to me. It seems to be getting worse.

A few weeks ago I was driving home at night and when I pulled into a store I noticed my headlights weren't on. Once I got back in the car I saw that neither were the dash lights. I would hear a clicking sound and the dash lights would blink. The next week it was fine. I avoided driving at night to get some time to try and fix it. Tonight the same thing but now they don't seem to want to turn on at all. Either automatic or switched.

If I turn the switch to parking lights all of those are on and so are the dash lights. As soon as I click the rest of the way to headlights they don't turn on and the dash lights turn off. I checked for a fuse and didn't see one. The circuit breaker seems ok. There is a relay next to the fuse box that clicks when they try to turn on. Could that be it? I've tried to search the Internet and can't really find the problem I'm describing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

I don't know for sure, but changing the relay sounds logical. I had no headlights a few weeks ago on another vehicle and that turned out to be the problem. Good Luck!

I replaced the switch and still the same intermittent issue. So while I was in there doing it I noticed that the plug to the drl's that I unplugged and taped up to use hids was resting on the heat sink for the drl diode. The tape had started to unravel a tad and was shorting on the heat sink. Which is why it would come and go as it moved around and made contact. So you never know I guess. Good thing I didn't pay retail for the switch.
