There is also the release button under the steering column. I know its used if you can't get the key to the off position to pull it out, so it may allow you to go to ACC.

go get em lol
Back upstairs with no luck at all. I found my graphite and gave it the "once over" but to no avail. Oh well, I guess I'll see if the dealer can get it to work Friday without costing me and arm and a leg.
One bright note though!! I was looking over the controls with my reading glasses on and I fixed my Lumbar Support in the seat and all the sudden I happened to look forward and saw two switches together to the left of the radio. I started messing with them and all the sudden my eye caught a glimpse of something in the windshield. It was the friggin MPH in the windshield! Totally awesome! I didn't think I had that option in the car but I do. I set it to my height and brightened it up. Every day I'm learning something new about this car. I guess thats what you guys have been refering to as the HUD. Pretty cool stuff!
I'll let you know what happens Friday when I get home, hopefully with a working Theft System!
Well it should be, unless it's dimmed down all the way. Or if it's too high or too low.
It must have been all the way down cause I had my finger on the "up" button a few seconds before it caught my eye and the "brightness" control was all the way down. Now I'm hoping the dealer can fix the issue with the ignition cylinder so I can get the theft system to work and program my fobs. Before I shell out all that money I'll see if they can get it into Accessory. If they can't do it then I'll opt to stay with the unprogrammed passkey and have the other guy install the aftermarket alarm with the lock/unlock feature. I spoke to the installer today and he said that even if there is an issue with the VATs System, the new alarm has nothing to do with it and will work fine. I just won't have "factory" fobs. We'll see Friday what goes.
There's a release button under neath the key slot. Take the little cover off and stick a pen up there while turning your keys back.
Well, I just got the call from my son at the dealership. The "Tech" that works there told him that my car "doesn't go into accessory" and that some of these cars don't. Now I may be a noob to this particular car, but am I crazy??? Car doesn't go into Accessory??? I told my son to kindly take my hard earned money and leave. So basically I have two brand new fobs, still in the package, that I will just sell for 20 bucks, and I'll have the alarm installed tomorrow and remove the Security Bulb from the dash. Thanks for all the help here on the board. You guys are great.
You seriously need to jiggle the hell out of that key while rocking the steering wheel. It WILL go into accessory.
I have tried the Jiggling, shaking, twisting, turning, poking, yanking method on this friggin switch and it won't budge. I'm was wondering if the cylinder might have been changed and re-keyed to fit the original key? At this point I'm going to leave it alone. The new alarm with fobs will be installed tomorrow morning and I'll just pull the bulb from behind the security light.
Alrighty man...it takes me a good 5 minutes of violent attack on my ignition switch with the pushing and turning back and jiggling and swearing. It always goes eventually though. LOL
Yeah, it isn't fun. But I needed to program that fob. :D
regal fob reprogram is much easier than the GP, why they go and make one car difficult and the other easy?
we all know that key should turn back, work it man lol. while pushing the whole tumbler in, turn it back while doing every possible jiggle move you can come up with.....
did the dealer program the new key? or do they need the key turned to acc to do that too?
No, they didn't program the key Scotty. They would have had to do the diagnostic work first which was $160 bucks total with no guarantee that it would work. The guy told me that it may be the VATs Module itself but they wouldn't ow without doing that work, which had me back to the 160 without a guarantee. So I opted to use the money for the new alarm system instead which is 150. I understood that they couldn't give me assurance that it would work. You couldn't possibly know whats wrong without some troubleshooting first so it's all good.
that sucks, and i understand, no sense throwing good money at something with no guarantee.
as long as it its stays running, maybe some black tape over the security light, that would drive me crazy to see that all the time.
