I have been searching all over for this and haven't come across anyone who has had the same issue. Out of the blue, my horn stopped chirping when pressing the lock button twice on my keyfob. I have checked the DIC and the horn chirp is set to on. I have tried toggling it on/off, but no luck there either.

Any ideas? I had to install a new tpms sensor and I can't get it to go into the learn mode. I am assuming this is becuase I am not getting the horn chirp when locking. It is a 2008 Grand Prix base with factory keyless entry.

    thanks,
    Josh

First most obvious question would be does the horn work when pushed at steering wheel?

From what I have been told there is no learn mode for a new TPMS. You have to have it hooked up to a computer and have it done.

There is a learn mode for anything GM that has them but you need the TPMS reader that most shops have.

Or on some cars you put them into learn mode, and before hand have the tires filled to 3-5 psi over spec and let air out of the tire 1 by 1 starting with the LF, RF, RR, LR and when the sensor senses that the psi is changing it tells the computer its working.

And the learn mode should be car in Park, Key on engine off, hit the e-brake and hold the lock/unlock for 5-7 seconds. Mostly all GM vehicles are that way.

That's what I was saying. The method you are describing is relearning the position of the tires after a rotation. That's doable with just the key fob.

So then why did you say you need the TPMS reader?

My second sentence says "Or", but it may not work for all.

If it dont work, you need the reader.

Missed the or. And I can tell you from experience, the ebrake has no effect on relearn.

Maybe, maybe not. Most procedures on our system at work include the e-brake, not going to argue weather or not its right, but I hit it for when I do it everyday for whatever car needs it.

They might just say ebrake on as as "Don't be a dumbass and let the car roll away"

I knew i forgot to add something. Yes the horn works fine at steering wheel. I did get the relearn to work by counting the seconds and estimating when the horn would sound if it was working correctly. Still looking to get that part fixed...

Have you done any wiring lately? When I installed my relay harness for my HID lights I had a bad ground that cause my horn to stop working. I would check over all your electrical connections

Does the stereo have any settings that could affect it?

I had an ipod integration unit installed but that just plugged into the radio harness. That was removed quite a while ago. I really dont remember if the horn chirp was working then or not. Other than that, nothing has been done to it.

The horn works, just not when locking the car. Also wouldn't sound when putting it in tpms learn mode like the manual said it should.

I am not a 100% sure if the stereo would affect it but look over your connections and make sure you have a good ground
