I change after doing a cam etc...within 5 minutes then about 200-500miles then back to normal. It's doubtful that you have any old school crap accumulating in the oil, so you could go longer/shorter. What do you feel comfortable doing, that's what I'd suggest.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

    Right now would be ideal.

Have you thrashed it yet? If not, please do.

    Not in the slightest.

Have a day off, nice outside, car drives well.

I'd agree on giving it a power test...but don't want to take the heat if it kabooms

I do 200 miles with a cheap oil and high quality filter (Mobil 1). Running it hard for the last 50 miles or so.
Change to synthetic Mobil 1 10W-30/filter and never look back. I mean never use cheap mineral based oil again.
    Haven't had any problems yet.
