As the title states, just rebuilt and painted my motor...finally......anyways, puting tranny on and noticed 3 threaded holes on each side of the block by the knock sensors, what are they for??? I dont remember taking anything out of the old motor or seeing that these were missing? Looked on google and says something about 'girdle' bolts for the main caps???.. Pic inlcuded. Please help. Also i need a ported TB and have left messages for people to no avail. Main concern is these threaded bolt holes....looks like oil would leak.

Not sure. But you can link the image to the forum. Just click on the very last link that appears when you drag the cursor over the pic.

To the left of the knock sensor is the AC bracket hole. for the rear bracket. To the right..I think stays empty.

There are girdle bolts aka side bolts into the main bearings. but there's one in each bearing. So you'll see 4 of them on each side.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

There are 3 on each side, not counting the a/c brackets...I think... You can see the main caps.....It appears like a 10mm bolt would fit there.....oone on each cylinder.....oil would have to leak...again, I think

There are 3 main cap cross bolts on each side. Number 4 cap (next to flex plate) does not have these.

There is sealant on the underside of the head and they are TTY bolts.

    GM dealer.

They'll have the sealant already on them.

Call your local GM parts counter or walk in. They'll know exactly what you're talking about.
Tell them they're the 6 cross bolts for the main caps that have sealant on the threads and the head.

Your actuallt not far off, color that is. I have a Regal ,not a GTP. Buick used a similar color gold engine paint in the 50's or 60's. Thought I would be different.
