I forget the exact amount, but I know you need two bottles of the GM SC oil. But, it doesn't use all of both.

IF you drain it properly it will take two GM bottles or 8 ounces.
ZZP says it take 1.5 bottles or 6 ounces, but I can drain enough to require two bottles to get to the bottom threads of the opening.

I just refilled mine last month and it took slightly under two bottles. [assuming i was supposed to fill it just below the threading.]

Yes,just to the bottom thread is correct.
I suppose it matters how anal you are about the removal. I have Farnsworth's s/c oil remover tool and move the drain tube to several spots before convincing myself all that can be gotten out is out.

My setup is going together dry, so I'll need to make sure I get as much in as possible. I have two bottles ready to go.

My friend [had to] siphon the s/c oil out, lets say it worked and he was spitting for the next hour or so. I warned him how bad it smelled from what i read on here and apparently it tastes as bad as it smells.

Just did mine the other night. Got all the old (40k miles) fluid out and put in 2 full bottles of new GM fluid. Brought it right to the bottom of the threads.

I was able to change the SC fluid, change the oil and filter, grease tie rods, check all my other fluids, change my spark plugs, and drink 2 beers in less than 2 hours. Sometimes, things go well.
