    CLICK - CLACK, CRUNCH.

Not supposed to make that noise when you turn the wheel at low speeds...

Doesn't seem to be any issue with the suspension. Anyone here have issues with the intermediate steering shaft in their 04 + Gp's? From what I have researched it seems to be a pretty frequent issue.

My concern is a lot of dealerships just "rework" the existing unit and don't actually replace it. All this involves is more or less moving some grease around.

    Sorry to Ramble...

But anyone who has had this issue have any idea what the cost for repair was? I am EXPECTING the warranty to cover it, - but won't be entirely surprised if they find some reason why it wont.

Just lube it yourself and get used to it. You'll have to do it for the life of the car. GM outsources this part to another company that has their heads up their collective ass.

    Here are directions:

North American Impala Owners Association - Problems with my car! - ISS Intermediate Steering Shaft Fix Sticky

Keep in mind, this is probably the most common and hardest to beat problem on W-bodies. There are rumors that the latest shaft design is better, but no confirmed reports with a part number. One guy had this problem with only 5 miles on the odometer in his 08 Imp SS.

It's a very common problem with almost all GM vehicles after 99. If you were to completely collapse the steering shaft, it'll squeeze the lube back around the inner shaft. The Impala method works well too.

I think we need to get that how to and another I saw about adjusting the parking brake put up in the How To section. Those are both good ones.

I have had an issue with my cars, but I want to go ahead and do this anyway, for good maintence. So removed the cover and spray down into the shaft??

Yep. I spray until the grease starts to come out of the hole (filled). Then I work the wheel back and forth, spray some more. I also spray down the U-joint above the fill hole.

Liquid Wrench brand white lithium grease worked for a while on mine, then stopped working for some reason. I then switched to CRC brand and can go longer between servicing.
