So here goes again. Originally I just wanted a solid 3.4 setup as far as engine mods go. But I recently bit the bullet on a gen V set up. Gen V w/zzp mps hub, portem LIM, N*w/ adapter, LQ4 custom intake, and sensor pigtail adapters.

Once my taxes get back il be picking up an inctercooler as well. Im leaning towards the phenolic core ones that are being sold on here. If anyone has any input on them, or an others it would be greatly appreciated! Im gonna peice everything together rather than buying a kit. Most likely will get the 3" thick fmhe from frozen boost.

So I decided Im gonna take a stab at polishing the blower. I figure I have quite a bit of time before I start the actual swap so I can chip away at it until then. And even if I botch the sh!t out of it Ill just paint it. But so far I think its going pretty good. I would never attempt this without a die grinder tho haha

Just foolin around with idea of how hard its gonna be

Just sanded with 100,220,330 then 1000 for a few minutes each to see what it could look like in spot. I have since gone back over it and got rid of almost all the little scratches in the shiny part.

I came accross this, and wasnt really sure what its for. Im sure some type of serial number or something? Anyone know?

And as of 4am friday night this is where shes at so far

Ill be doing a write up for it once im done. Im trying to take as many pics as possible through out each step. This is after just 100 grit sanding as much as I could get at with a die grinder sanding disks and a few other bits, and hand sandind to smooth out as much as I could with 100 grit. still alot of work to go, but its slowing getting there.

Wow, that looks great for just a couple hours work! Glad to see someone actually do some DIY polishing the right way! Keep up the food work.

I think I was 11 or 12 deep by the time I called it a night lol. Ive put about 6-7 hours into it so far. Thanks, I knew it was gonna be a lot of work going into it but I think it will be worth it.

So im kinda contempating a cam over an intercooler. Thoughts and suggestions? I want it to be pretty reliable and thats kin of why I was leaning towards intercooling. But I would love a cam to slightly improve the exhaust tone, at the very least a decent idle lol Do they each make around the same power? I was sorta thinking about the XP or NIC. I know that one has a nice idle lol but also takes a bit more to tune corect? Any input is helpful!

Is it your DD? I would go intercooler route to keep KR down. If you end up going cam, I would suggest NIC because I heard that's more streetable but i'm no pro

Question, and hopefully I dont jack the thread too much. Ive always wanted to polish my M90, it seems pretty straight forward based on what ive seen you do. When pulling it off I might as well port it too right? Or is it better to just buy a new one/ newer version of the super charger? I have a 97 and wasn't sure if there is an upgrade as I would like to do something similar to what you are doing.

Looks great nothing better then shinny parts under the hood!

Yea I was thinking the same thing. I think it would be easier to tune for an intercooler too. And a lot easier of an install lol But I have always wanted a cam

Polishing is pretty straight forward. Just start with a really low grit and work your way to a really high grit. But the shape of the blower makes it really hard with all the little nooks and crannys. It can be done just takes a lot of time. If you have a gen 3 and your pulling it off anyway you might as well open the V up a little bit by just removing the tabs and smooth everything out.

Couple of updated pics. I decided it would be easer to get some of the hard to reach places if it was all taken apart. Plus its probly a good idea to clean it all out after everything is said and done.

This is from inside it, thought it was a cool pic at the time, im almost never sober when im working on this thing. Dont know if thats the best idea but what ever..it gets me through countless hours of sanding lol

This is pretty much all the projects I have going on at once, obviously because polishing a cast alluminum blower just isnt enough for me..
the blower, retros, cutting and welding up some ehaust tips, and anti pogos that I painted because I thought the 12 dollars for powder coating from zzp was kinda pointless,

This is after its been completly gone over with 220 grit dry sanding.

I went over it once with 400 wetsanding once after this picture but forgot to take another picture. My goal is to have it done with 600 after tonight.

And because I can, this is some kittys gettin busy I saw when I was dropping a buddy off down the street

Oh man that thing looks effing beautiful! So im sold on upgrading mine cause I need some of that polished goodness under my hood. Whats the maintenance like on polished engine components like that? Would you have to finish it somehow? Or will the heat effect that polished finish ever?

If I have a 97 GTP what would be the best version of the super charger to look for?

    Keep those pics coming!

Thank you! I heard they do fade a little over time. Can alwasy take it off and touch it up. I think sealing it with was is the best way to do it. Ives heard of people clear coating them but it dulls it out quite a bit.

Hers after 400 wet sand and brown buffing compound with a buffing wheel and die grinder

And this is after the white compound

I just wanted to see how well the compunds worked. Im still going to go back over it with 600,1000 and 2000 grit wet sanding. Then go back again with the brown and maybe green and then white again followed by some polish and then wax

Im having troubles making a decision on a good FMHE. It was either gonna be the stage 3 zzp or the 3.5 inch thick one from frozen boost. But iv been looking around and seen that some people will use a radiator out of like a jetta or something? or some people delete ac and use the condensor from that? I think that would be cool because it would already be mounted and everything. Is it a good size or to small or large?
