Clearly it's a good thing to consider if it's never been touched. Most shops though will go more based on pressure than actual pounds.
I go by pressure if I am topping up. If I am evacuating, flushing and refilling a system due to a repair, I go 70% based on weight, 30% pressure.
I just topped mine up last week.
