Question about ABS/Traction Control Lights and Sway Bar

I just had my 2002 Grand Prix GT in the shop because the ABS and Traction Control Lights were on. I was told the back brakes are rusted tight and not working. Would this cause those lights to go on. I have noticed they do go off when it rains so I am wondering if they really are rusted tight.

They also told me that my sway bar was broken and to get a GTP kit one because it would be better. Do I need to fix the sway bar immediatly?

They also said that two wheel bearings are bad. Is this related at all to the sway bar being broke? If there is a priority to get these issues fixed does anyone have some suggestions. Like everyone else funds are tight right now.

not a priority unless you want your abs to work and the car to handle better.

did they tell you witch hubs were bad?

the rear brakes, take them off and see if the caliper pins are rusted up, or the caliper its self is sized up, aka the piston wont retract on its own, keeping the pads dragging the rotor. if its the caliper pins clean them and the holes in the caliper with brake cleaner, then grease them with synthetic grease.

if the pistons wont retract get new calipers for the rears.

sway bar cost about 100 for a solid doorman replacement, the stock one was hollow. and the ends snapped off. you may have been hearing a clunk when turning from this.

almost all of these repairs you need are listed in the how to section, and are quite easy to replace yourself.

your looking at around 300 in parts just for the sway bar, and hubs, you need to check your brakes out and see whats up there. i think someone was selling a set of stock rear calipers on the site too. parts for sale section.

I just fixed my ABS myself (after a shop tried 5 times). The problem *usually* is the wiring harness to the wheel sensor. Before the shop pronounces the hubs/sensors bad, make sure the wire harness is good.

I also replaced my sway bar, broke at the end as well....
