got nothing and i did the high pressure line
|
i have some good experience and ive filled plenty of systems. ive also taken a class at a community college. and i KNOW for a fact that with some compressors if theres no freon the compressor wont kick on and you need it on to get the freon to go in. unless theres something special about gp compressors i dont know about, i need this compressor on.
Then you have a big enough leak, you need to find it and fix it. or you can jump the low pressure switch charge it and waste 30 bucks in freon for 1 or 2 days worth of A/C.
from the side of the can... troubleshooting: if compressor does not engage, add half of can to low side and wait 3 minutes and check again... if compressor still does not engage, repairs may be necessary.
you're feeding the can into the low side line of the system. the clutch doesn't engage, because there isn't enough pressure to kick the clutch in. once you force the pressure into the low side of the system, it's supposed to be enough pressure to engage the clutch. That said, if it doesn't work, then you have a leak, or something physically wrong with the compressor clutch. the clutch shuts off the line in a refridgerant leak to protect the compressor. I'm sure you know most, if not all of it, but if that part doesn't work, then you're in for something more than a quick fix.
chris you cant force freon. you need to "create a vaccum" like lrsc said or you need the compressor to suck it in.
i'm not going to bother a vaccum. i'm gonna jump the compressor and put my dye in. find the leak. and fix it. i have plenty of freon so i'm not wasting money. besides i know my leak isnt that bad. i'll get a whole summer out of the can and when i see the magical yellow stuff i'll fix where its leaking and be good to go.
thanks for the help guys.
I've filled quite a few ac systems and on everyone I just hooked the can to the low pressure side and opened it up and the can emptied into the system no reason to jump the compressor.
