Well it turns out, my exhaust leak was coming from holes all around my catalytic converter. It seems the guy before me just welded on a converter from some random car and did a really bad job on it. This place i went to put band clamps on it temporarily so my car is much quieter now but i still want to fix the main problem. So i need the entire piece coming from the engine, not just a converter, then i saw this.

MAGNAFLOW Part # 23405 Direct-Fit; Federal Emissions (Exc.CA); Not For Sale Or Use In The State Of California
    $165.79
    Part In Cart

Is this good and has anybody ever bought this from them? I called to ask if it comes with the gaskets, but the guy told me he doesn't know and it might say it on the description. The shop I was at wanted to charge me $703.00 to do it themselves but there's no way i was about to do that.

muffler shops suck, they wanted 300 for a muffler from me, i think not lol

yeah thats not to bad and should work for ya.

or search the used parts here and see if one is for sale, lots of guys go DP and then get headers.

I thought a downpipe was further up then that whole catalytic converter piping? Or does the downpipe go in place of the whole cat part?

DP's come cat less or with a cat, what you have posted is a DP.

So the one i posted is a catted downpiped? Sorry bout all the questions I'm new to this stuff. I thought this was just a stock replacement that wouldn't benefit me other than fixing the exhaust leak i have. Would you see a gain from this?

yeah its a upgrade, will you feel it? probably not. it will get rid of the U bend by the cat, if its still there on your car. the guy who butchered the cat on may have removed it. its where the o2 sensor is mounted.

that one is probably a 2.5" if you can find a 3" that would let it flow a bit better.

here like this link has a 3 inch dp with cat from zzp, looks the same.

Ah yeah i see. My car still has the u-bend and i heard that was the most restrictive part of exhaust on our cars so that's good that it will be gone.

Has anybody ever heard of this site? I've never really heard of them but they have it for $143.00 with free shipping..dunno, sounds shady.

they seem legit to me, id do it.

all of their pricing seems to be ok for other stuff. nothing seems to cheap or over priced. they may have a ton of these and need to unload them.

20 bucks saved is 20 bucks earned still i guess.

Well after reading these reviews, I'd rather not get it.
Amazon.com: Magnaflow 23405 Direct Fit Catalytic Converter (Non CARB compliant): Automotive

Instead i'll probably end up getting this one, even though it has the damn u-bend.

CATCO Part # 4876 Direct Fit; Not Legal For Sale Or Use In The State Of California
    Federal & California Emission vehicles.
    $174.89

Do you think it will last? I'm just really afraid that if i get it and install it i have a chance of getting a leak again or the cat to blow out or something.

It's really solid. No rust on it at all really.
