I got a small power steering leak on my car. Are there any known spots for the power steering to leak on these cars? Looks like it's been leaking for a while because i checked under the car and the passenger side underbody is caked pretty good with gunk buildup from the power steering

Yea, they're known to leak at the pump, the rack, and the pressure line. Take your pick. Best bet would be to clean all the gunk off and then see if you can figure out where it's coming from.

You can throw some Lucas power steering stop leak in there to try and help stop it. I got about a year and a half out of mine that way before the rack let go, which on mine was what was leaking in the first place.

Use some break parts cleaner to dry it all up from top to bottom from the pump down the line and the rack boots. test drive it for a few minutes and crawl back under to see if you get any better an idea. Mine has been leaking a while everything was wet, replaced the pump and the sender line, still no fix. if the boots are leaking its leaning towards a bad rack... ive got 101k on mine

Mine started leaking slowly, gotten really bad over the past couple of months. I've got a 2001, 242K miles, and this is the first real problem. Looks to be a bad rack - leaking closer to the driver's side where the boot is.

it might not be a bad rack, its likely a cracked line but at 242k who knows. mine was a cracked line and it made the gear box and driver side boot wet.
